Account Director, Startups
OpenAI is hiring an Account Director to lead relationships with startup customers in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of the Startups Go-To-Market team, you’ll work directly with early-stage and high-growth startups, helping them build innovative products using OpenAI’s powerful APIs. You will manage a portfolio of startup accounts, serve as a trusted advisor to founders and engineering teams, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive adoption and long-term success. This role blends technical engagement, relationship management, and business strategy. Ideal candidates will have strong startup ecosystem experience, a background in SaaS or cloud sales, and a passion for helping disruptive companies succeed with AI. You’ll play a critical role in shaping how new businesses use AI to change the world, while also contributing to OpenAI’s startup-focused strategies and feedback loops for product development.
Requirements
7–12 years in SaaS, PaaS, or API-based product sales.
Experience working in, with, or alongside startups (as a founder, early employee, or advisor).
Proven track record of supporting fast-growth tech companies.
Strong technical literacy and ability to communicate product value clearly.
Experience building long-term relationships with C-levels and founders.
Analytical ability to synthesize competitive, market, and product insights.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving multidimensional challenges.
Deep curiosity or experience in AI and emerging technologies.
