ACCOUNTANT
The Accountant is a critical member of the Accounting team, who will play an impactful role in the day-to-day accounting operations of SpaceX. This role focuses on tracking, analyzing, and optimizing costs associated with the production, inventory, and distribution of Starlink hardware components. You will ensure accurate costing for high-volume manufacturing of kits, support scalability for global deployment. The ideal candidate will be an independent, creative, dynamic, collaborative problem solver.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
2+ years of accounting experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
CPA license (or equivalent)
Big 4 accounting firm experience
Proficient computer skills, including Excel
Experience with US GAAP and international accounting standards (IFRS or other local accounting standards), and multiple currency environments
Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or other ERP accounting systems
Ability to analyze a high volume of transactions and data; SQL experience
Demonstrated strengths in organizational, attention-to-detail, follow-through, reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to seek underlying assumptions through probing, questioning, and listening
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to listen attentively and communicate information clearly and effectively
Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities concurrently with shifting time frames, and meet deadlines; self-starter with a high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow-through

Willingness to work long hours and weekend when needed to meet critical deadlines
This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote and hybrid work not considered
Responsibilities
Participate in the accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Oversee inventory costing and reconciliation for Starlink kit raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished products; develop and maintain standard costs for Starlink kit components
Conduct, obsolescence reviews, and reserve calculations to minimize waste and ensure accurate financial reporting
Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions as required
Partner with finance, supply chain, and operations on financial planning, budgeting, and reporting initiatives
Support ongoing efforts to improve processes and reporting, including standardization efforts and identify areas requiring improvement to accelerate the close process
Prepare schedules and supporting documentation related to external audit requirements, and interact with external auditors as required
Participate in special projects as requested
