Microsoft is seeking an Applied Sciences PhD Specialist to join the Microsoft Search, Assistant, and Intelligence (MSAI) team. Starting in July 2026, this full-time position is based in London or Cambridge, UK with a hybrid work model. You will work on cutting-edge AI for Microsoft 365 Copilot, focusing on natural language understanding, search, and recommendation systems powered by large language models (LLMs). This role is ideal for PhD graduates passionate about advancing AI technologies and bringing research into real-world applications. You will collaborate across product, engineering, and research teams to deliver scalable AI systems while upholding Responsible AI and data privacy practices. This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to the evolution of AI experiences for millions of users worldwide.

Requirements

1. Doctorate in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
2. Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
3. Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, or ML at scale.
4. Fluency in English.
5. Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred:
6. Research publications in top-tier AI venues.
7. Experience with LLMs and Transformer models.
