Full Time Mid-Level Software Engineering Remote

Microsoft is seeking a Global Critical Environment (CE) Application Service Engineer to join its Datacenter Monitoring and Controls Engineering (DMCE) team. In this role, you’ll provide expert-level support and optimization for Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) across a global network of data centers. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, managing system upgrades, implementing security enhancements, and leveraging telemetry data for performance optimization. The role also involves managing third-party vendor services and collaborating on global controls standards. Ideal candidates will bring 2+ years of technical experience (5+ preferred), with skills in HMI development, automation, and programming languages like Python or PowerShell. The position offers flexibility with up to 100% remote work and includes relocation support to hub locations. As part of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation team, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the reliability and sustainability of the infrastructure powering services like Azure, Xbox, and Office 365.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering or equivalent experience
2. 2+ years in software, network, service, or systems engineering
3. 1+ years HMI development experience in BAS or EPMS
4. Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check
5. Experience with automation, telemetry systems, or data modeling preferred
6. Programming proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or PowerShell
7. Familiarity with protocols like BACnet, OPC UA, SNMP, or IEC61850
