Requirements
10+ years in data governance, information management, or data strategy roles.
Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale governance transformations with measurable impact.
Expertise in enterprise data governance frameworks, MDM best practices, metadata management, data cataloguing, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA).
Strong leadership: ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive cross-functional collaboration, and lead change management at scale.
Experience in consumer goods or highly regulated industries advantageous.
Familiarity with centralised governance models preferred
Responsibilities
The Data and Analytics Governance Director is a leader in the Data and Analytics department. They report to the Chief Data and Analytics Officer. This person is in charge of creating and enforcing the rules for how Diageo handles data and analytics across the company.
The Data and Analytics Governance Director makes sure that people trust the data that it is quality and that the company is following all the rules. They work closely with the people who make data products the people who build platforms the people who develop capabilities and the people who start initiatives to make sure that these things are done in a way that follows the rules from the very beginning.
The Data and Analytics Governance Director is also in charge of the central Data Governance Office. This office creates rules, for the company makes sure that these rules are put into action and checks to make sure that everyone is following them. We looked at how good our company's at handling data and we found a big problem. We are not very good at making sure people follow the rules and standards that we have. The thing that is causing the most trouble is Artificial Intelligence and the rules that the government is making about it. These rules are changing fast and it is getting harder to keep up. We need to make sure the people, in charge are paying attention to this and working with the Legal team the Data Privacy team and the Information Security team to make sure we are doing things right. Artificial Intelligence is a deal and we need to get better at dealing with it.
The main goal of this job is to set up and make sure everyone follows Diageos rules for managing data. This person makes sure that all the data is correct and safe to use. They do this by putting habits into place at Diageo.
They are also in charge of things like metadata keeping track of data and making sure people take care of the data they're responsible for at Diageo. This job is important because it helps Diageo keep its data in order and makes sure people are responsible, for the data they own at Diageo.

Owns and safeguards the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, standards, and frameworks, ensuring trust, consistency, and compliance across all of Diageo.
The person in this role works closely with important leaders in the business like senior business leaders, functional leaders and technology leaders. They do this to make sure that governance principles are part of the decisions that the enterprise makes. This means they have to make sure that data is treated and managed like it is an important asset for the company. This is a job and it means that the person has to be able to influence senior business leader's functional leaders and technology leaders to make good decisions, about data.
Ensures influential leadership and accountability for end to end data governance frameworks, ensuring enterprise-wide alignment and adoption.
Champions a culture of accountability and stewardship for data as a strategic asset, embedding governance principles into every decision, process, and platform.
We make sure that the rules for Data are in line with the rules for Artificial Intelligence as they come out. We work with the team and the Information Security team to create policies and standards, for Artificial Intelligence. This way Data policies and standards are aligned with Artificial Intelligence governance, policies and standards.
Owns Data Governance and Management talent strategy and development plans e.g. Data Governance mandatory training across Diageo including key skills and training development plans for all employees across Diageo, key governance roles and technical leaders
Leadership:
Establishes, empowers, and coaches data governance roles across the organization (Data Domain Owners (DDOs), Data Stewards (DS)), building a high-impact network of data leaders.
Partners with Platform, Product, and Capability leaders to embed governance-by-design into every layer of Diageo’s data ecosystem.
The company is using metadata standards, data cataloguing, lineage and stewardship practices for all of its data. This means the data is something that people can trust. The data is also easy to find. Can be used more than once. The company is making sure that its data is trusted, easy to discover and reusable, by using these metadata standards, data cataloguing, lineage and stewardship practices.
The person in this role. Uses special tools to track how well people are following the rules and doing their jobs. These tools are like report cards that show how things are going. They help everyone see what is working. What is not so people can be held responsible, for what they do. This is important because it helps make sure everything runs smoothly and that people are doing what they are supposed to do. The tools also help people understand how to improve and make things better. Designs and drives governance things like these tools, which are called KPIs and dashboards to monitor adoption and compliance and quality.
This person is in charge of Data Governance at DA&I and AI. They make sure Data Governance is represented and spoken for in these groups. The goal is to make sure Data Governance helps decide what the company should focus on and that it delivers value to the company. Data Governance is important, to the company because it helps keep things running smoothly and safely. Data Governance is a part of making sure the company gets what it needs from Data Governance.
