Director Clinical Programs, Early Oncology
AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Director, Clinical Programs (SDCP) to lead clinical program strategy and operational delivery within our Early Oncology team. As a key member of the Global Project Team, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to plan and oversee all operational aspects of early-phase oncology clinical programs, from initial design through to final clinical study reports (CSRs). This high-impact role requires expertise in drug development, clinical operations, and program strategy. You will engage externally with regulatory bodies, suppliers, and collaborators to shape and execute innovative clinical approaches that enhance recruitment, retention, and data acquisition. Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in medical, biological, or related scientific field
2. Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership in drug development
3. Deep understanding of global clinical trial methodology and regulations
4. Proven ability to design and deliver clinical programs aligned with business goals
5. Strong financial and resource management experience
6. Experience managing internal teams and external vendors globally
7. Advanced problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities
8. Experience leading cross-functional global teams
Desirable:
9. Higher degree (e.g., MSc, PhD, MPhil)
10. Program management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, MBA)
11. Experience across product life cycle and multiple therapeutic areas
12. Early phase clinical trial delivery expertise
