Salesforce Release Engineer
GitLab is looking for a skilled Salesforce Admin/Release Engineer to join its Enterprise Applications team. In this role, you’ll blend Salesforce administration expertise with DevOps discipline to manage deployments, maintain system integrity, and support business growth across our CRM ecosystem. You’ll coordinate releases across multiple environments (Dev, Sandbox, UAT, Prod), automate deployment pipelines, and work cross-functionally to ensure smooth, secure, and scalable delivery. You’ll also maintain configurations, data operations, performance optimization, and backup mechanisms while staying up-to-date on new Salesforce capabilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of administration and engineering and wants to help GitLab scale its systems efficiently across the APAC remote region.
Requirements
1. 4-5 years of Salesforce administration experience with strong configuration skills
2. Hands-on experience with release management tools (e.g., Salesforce DX, Copado, Gearset)
3. Solid understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD for Salesforce
4. Experience coordinating deployments across multi-environment orgs
5. Proficient in data management: imports, exports, mass updates, data cleansing
6. Ability to troubleshoot performance, user issues, and configuration errors
7. Familiarity with version control (Git) and metadata branching
8. Structured mindset with experience in impact analysis, rollback plans, and validation
9. Preferred: Salesforce Admin or Platform App Builder certification
10. Preferred: prior experience with automation and DevOps Center usage

Responsibilities
1. Manage deployments across Development, Sandbox, UAT, and Production environments
2. Implement and maintain automated testing and deployment strategies
3. Configure and maintain custom objects, workflows, validation rules, and security
4. Oversee sandbox refreshes, data seeding, and environment health
5. Execute and maintain data operations (import, export, mass updates)
6. Monitor system performance and resolve bottlenecks
7. Develop backup, rollback, and disaster recovery procedures
8. Support deployment of Apex, Lightning, triggers, and metadata changes
9. Stay current with Salesforce releases and drive adoption of new features
10. Advocate best practices and process improvements for release engineering
