Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Consultant, Commercial Financial Services, Risk and Compliance to join its expanding UK team. In this client-facing consulting role, you’ll help major financial institutions manage regulatory compliance and operational risk through hands-on assessment, analysis, and improvement of their control environments. You will lead workstreams, guide junior consultants, and present results to client executives. The role involves assessing and improving risk management frameworks, performing control testing, and ensuring compliance with evolving financial regulations. Ideal candidates will bring consulting experience in financial services, a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance frameworks, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to stakeholders. The position requires travel for client engagements (up to 75%) and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on risk governance and business stability for leading financial organizations.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in banking or financial services consulting.
3. Practical experience in operational risk, compliance, and control testing.
4. Familiarity with banking regulations and international risk standards.
5. Strong communication and process mapping skills.
6. Ability to travel up to 75% for client work.
7. Right to Work in the UK (e.g., UK or Ireland Passport, EU Settled Status, ILR).
8. Preferred: MBA, PMP, ACCA, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

1. Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks and control effectiveness.
2. Lead workstreams supporting clients’ risk management and compliance initiatives.
3. Map business processes and evaluate inherent and residual risks.
4. Test operational controls and recommend improvements.
5. Develop or enhance risk management frameworks and policies.
6. Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices.
7. Deliver high-quality reports and presentations to senior stakeholders.
8. Mentor consultants and contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused team culture.
