Senior Indirect Tax Manager
TELUS is seeking a Canadian Indirect Tax Senior Manager to lead its audit and appeals function within the Indirect Tax division. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who combines strong technical expertise in GST/HST, QST, and PST with proactive leadership and strategic vision. Reporting to an Indirect Tax Director, you will manage national audits, provide guidance across multiple business units, and ensure compliance while optimizing tax outcomes. You'll work with government bodies, contribute to policy development, and lead high-impact initiatives across TELUS’ diverse industries. Requirements
1. 8+ years of Canadian indirect tax experience (GST/HST, QST, PST)
2. Proven leadership and mentoring experience
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills
4. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
5. Proven ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders
6. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accounting; CPA or equivalent preferred
7. Proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, SAP
8. Bilingual in English and French is an asset
9. CPA In-Depth GST/HST Course or equivalent preferred
10. Interest in emerging technologies like AI (e.g., ChatGPT)

Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage all Canadian indirect tax audits and appeals
2. Develop audit strategies and close audits in a favorable, timely manner
3. Provide expert guidance on indirect tax legislation and compliance
4. Collaborate with business units to align tax strategies with business goals
5. Mentor and support development of indirect tax team members
6. Lead cross-functional tax initiatives and system improvements
7. Engage government authorities and stay ahead of regulatory changes
8. Oversee third-party spend and manage tax department budgets
9. Contribute to strategic projects like M&As and product launches
10. Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement
