Baseten is seeking a Documentation Engineer / Technical Writer to lead the documentation strategy and execution for its AI platform. You will craft clear, comprehensive guides that empower thousands of developers to understand and utilize Baseten's tools effectively. This role involves collaborating closely with product, engineering, marketing, and customer success teams to create, maintain, and continuously improve developer documentation—from getting started guides to advanced API references. The ideal candidate thrives on turning complex technical concepts into user-friendly content and is passionate about building mental models that accelerate time-to-value for developers. Requirements
1. 2-4 years of technical writing experience, ideally with developer tools or AI/ML products.
2. Exceptional writing skills capable of simplifying complex technical content.
3. Strong technical aptitude to grasp APIs, infrastructure, and developer workflows.
4. Self-motivated, able to independently manage multiple documentation projects.
5. Proficient with documentation platforms, markdown, Git, and developer tooling.
6. Portfolio showcasing clear, effective technical writing.

Responsibilities
1. Own Baseten’s full documentation suite: from beginner guides to advanced API references.
2. Write and launch documentation for all new product features.
3. Continuously improve docs based on user feedback and product updates.
4. Establish and maintain documentation standards and style guides.
5. Maintain docs-as-code platform, automating reference documentation where possible.
6. Create mental models and code examples to aid developer understanding.
7. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Marketing teams.
8. Track documentation metrics and perform A/B tests to optimize comprehension and retention.
9. Develop processes to integrate documentation into the product development lifecycle.
